Jeffery Gunther is an assistant vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. In that capacity, he oversees analysis of financial institutions and their supervisory environment. His work focuses on the detection of emerging risks to the banking system. He is a primary architect of statistical models used to flag banks in danger of financial deterioration. He also identifies shifts in banking strategies and their implications for safety and soundness. He has authored numerous articles on these subjects for academic and Federal Reserve journals. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Southern Methodist University in 1995.
