In August 2010, President Obama remarked that the U.S. now ranks 12th globally in college graduation rates for young adults. "Education is the economic issue of our time," with implications on a family's financial security, employment prospects and ability to contribute to the economy.

This forum brought together experts to discuss

  • Closing the gaps in minority participation, research and achievement
  • Improving access to higher education and graduation rates
  • Finding new ways to pay for education
  • Understanding factors that affect the value of higher education
