About the Speakers

Bettye J. Banks
Senior Vice President for Education
Consumer Credit Counseling Service
of Greater Dallas
Banks has nearly 30 years of experience with CCCS of Greater Dallas and has been senior vice president for education since 1998. She is a certified financial counseling executive and a certified consumer credit counselor. Banks has logged more than 25,000 counseling hours and facilitated over 3,000 seminars, presentations and workshops on money management, credit and related topics. She is a published author of several consumer finance-oriented workbooks and regularly writes feature articles for various local and state publications, including Today's Dallas Woman, Dallas Family and Dallas Child. Often quoted by both print and broadcast media, Banks frequently appears as a money management and credit expert. Banks holds a B.A. degree from Dallas Baptist University.

Gary G. Godsey
President and CEO
United Way of Metropolitan Dallas
Godsey was appointed president and chief executive officer of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas in May 2000 after serving as president of United Way Capital Area in Austin, Texas. He began his career with the United Way system in 1982 as executive director of the United Way in Johnson City, Tenn. Godsey relocated to Austin in 1992 from Anderson, S.C., where he was president and chief professional officer for Foothills United Way. He currently serves as chair of United Way of America's National Professional Council. In 2006, he was chair of the board for United Way of Texas. Godsey has a degree in public health administration from Tennessee Tech University.

Richard Mauldin
Community Development Specialist
Texas Capital Bank
Mauldin joined Texas Capital Bank in Dallas after working in the community development department of Bank of Texas. He has over 30 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, working in areas such as affordable housing, homelessness, and social, youth and faith-based services. He serves on numerous boards and committees, including the Texas Bankers Foundation, Shared Housing Center, Literacy Instruction for Texas and Texas Asset Building Coalition. Mauldin is a business graduate of Baylor University.

Don Raschke
Former Deputy Securities Commissioner
TexasState Securities Board
Raschke retired from the Texas State Securities Board (TSSB) in March 2007 after 25 years of state service. This summer, he returned on a temporary basis to work with TSSB's investor education program. Raschke began his career with TSSB as an analyst in the securities registration division. He was assistant director of the dealer registration division and chief financial officer before becoming deputy commissioner in 2003. He served on numerous committees and project groups with the North American Securities Administrators Association and for several years was a committee chair in the investor education section. He was also active in the Texas State Agency Business Administrators' Association (TSABAA) and served as the association's president in 2003. Raschke was chosen Administrator of the Year by TSABAA in 2006. Prior to joining TSSB, he worked for five years as a registered representative for A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. He holds a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Timothy L. Shaunty
President
Texas Council on Economic Education
Shaunty served as director of the Center for Economic Education at the University of Houston–Clear Lake before becoming president of the Houston-based Texas Council on Economic Education in 2001. During a 30- year career in higher education, he held a variety of positions, including research economist and director of governmental relations. After retirement, he taught government and economics in the public school system. Shaunty has earned multiple degrees in agricultural economics, sociology, business administration and architecture.

Princeton Williams
Senior Economic Education Specialist
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Williams joined the Dallas Fed in 2006. Previously, he taught economics, advanced-placement macroeconomics and AP microeconomics at R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth. Williams was selected as the lead teacher for AP economics for the Fort Worth Independent School District. As part of his district academic responsibilities, he mentored new economics teachers, conducted citywide review sessions for AP students, coauthored the district's economics curriculum and facilitated district professional development activities. Williams interned in the economic and market analysis division of the Department of Housing and Urban Development during his graduate studies. He received a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and an M.A. in economics from the University of Texas at Arlington.
