ESP Conference Attracts 175 Students
On April 5, the Dallas Fed hosted over 175 undergraduate students and faculty from 14 states for the seventh annual Economics Scholars Program Conference (ESP). The annual event provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students studying economics and finance to participate in all facets of a research conference.
The day was filled with insightful presentations on subjects including the tone of the FOMC statements, on-time airline performance, tax compliance, and the link between cigarettes and mental health.
“The ESP [conference] has provided a great oppor- tunity,” said one student. “This was my second year attending. Last year I was a discussant; this year I was a presenter.”
“This has inspired me to pursue a research paper of my own,” noted another student.
Clearly, the conference had a major impact on the students, many of whom plan to return next year.
