Banking EventsRisk Management WorkshopThe Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas offers a workshop on risk management for new directors of banks or bank holding companies. The program also can be used as a refresher course for experienced directors. The goal of the workshop is to help directors better understand and monitor risk management. Presented in the context of a hypothetical board meeting, the workshop includes hands-on exercises to apply the concepts learned. The workshop is presented by senior-level examiners commissioned by the Federal Reserve System. Each has significant experience in field examinations, training and other supervisory responsibilities. The workshop consists of three sessions, covering various topics: Session 1—Bank Performance
Session 2—Credit Risk
Session 3—Liquidity and Market Risks
Class SizeA range of 5 to 15 participants is recommended. You may invite directors from more than one institution to achieve minimum class size. For larger groups, more than one workshop can be provided. Workshop LengthThe workshop lasts about six hours. However, the sessions are designed to stand alone, making it possible to present one or two sessions when time is limited or in conjunction with a regular board meeting. Each session takes about two hours to complete. LocationThe workshop can be conducted at your bank, at another site of your choice or at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. You can host your bank's regular board of directors meeting at the Reserve Bank in conjunction with the workshop. If you come to the Reserve Bank, we can also arrange a tour of the facility, a presentation by an economist and lunch for participants. CostThe workshop is provided at no charge.
