Dallas Fed Conference to Focus on Business Opportunities Available to Serve the Immigrant Market

DALLAS—Successfully providing financial, housing and small-business development services to the exploding immigrant market is the focus of a Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas conference on September 29–30.

More than 30 bankers, community-development professionals, economists, state and local officials, and academicians will discuss products and marketing strategies designed specifically to reach immigrant markets as well as low- and moderate-income populations.

“The Business of Immigrant Markets: Providing Access to Financial Services” will be at the Dallas Fed, 2200 N. Pearl St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, and from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30. Participants can register for the event at www.dallasfed.org.

The conference will explore the latest research on the role immigrants play in the American economy and spotlight community-development partnerships that successfully reach this dynamic market.

Speakers will include C. Kendric Fergeson, chairman, American Bankers Association; Alfonso Aguilar, chief, Office of Citizenship, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; Gilbert G. Gonzalez, acting undersecretary for rural development, USDA; Mark Willis, executive vice president, JP Morgan Chase; and Roberto Suro, director, Pew Hispanic Center.

Dallas Fed President and CEO Robert D. McTeer Jr. will provide opening remarks.
