Statement by Bob McTeer in response to being named finalist for the position of chancellor of the Texas A&M University System

For immediate release: October 13, 2004

“I’m honored to be named finalist for the chancellor’s position at the Texas A&M University System. My highest priority will be to justify the confidence the Board of Regents has placed in me.

“If appointed, I will retire from the Federal Reserve and will obviously miss it after a 36-year career, including over 13 years as President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

“I will look forward to meeting and getting to know the students, former students, the faculty, and my new colleagues in the universities and state agencies. I also look forward to working with the Governor and the Legislature on behalf of the students and taxpayers of the great state of Texas.”
