Bates appointed to board of Dallas Fed's San Antonio Branch

DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Board of Governors has appointed J. Dan Bates to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ San Antonio Branch for a term ending December 31, 2006.

Bates is president of San Antonio-based Southwest Research Institute, an applied research and development organization. He also serves as chairman of Signature Science L.L.C.

Bates serves as a trustee for the San Antonio Medical Foundation, Texas Research Park Foundation, St. Mary’s University and United Way of San Antonio.

He earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas State University and a master of science degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.

The San Antonio Branch board of directors consists of seven members, four appointed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
