Romo Appointed to
Dallas Fed’s San Antonio Branch Board
DALLAS—The Federal
Reserve Board of Governors has appointed Dr. Ricardo
Romo to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve
Bank of Dallas’ San Antonio Branch. He will serve
a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2007.
Romo has served as president
of the University of Texas at San Antonio since May
1999. Previously, he was vice provost for undergraduate
education at UT-Austin. He also has held positions at
Trinity University, California State University at Northridge
and University of California at San Diego.
In 2002, President Bush appointed
Romo to the President’s Board of Advisers on Historically
Black Colleges and Universities.
He received a Ph.D. from UCLA,
master of arts from Loyola Marymount University and
bachelor of science from UT-Austin—all in history.
An urban historian, Romo is the
author of East Los Angeles: History of a Barrio and
taught history at UT-Austin.
The San Antonio Branch board
of directors consists of seven members, four appointed
by the Dallas Fed and three by the Federal Reserve Board
of Governors.
