Helm reelected as chairman of Dallas Fed's El Paso Branch board

DALLAS—The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' El Paso Branch has re-elected Ron C. Helm of Van Horn as chairman for 2006.

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors re-appointed Helm in January to a three-year term on the El Paso Branch board. Helm was first appointed to the El Paso Branch board in 2001, serving as chairman pro tem in 2003 and chairman in 2004 and 2005.

Helm and his wife, the former Janet Gieb, have long-term family and business ties to Midland and West Texas. Together, they own and operate Helm Land and Cattle Co., with interests in real estate, agriculture, ranch development, energy and investments.

Helm holds a degree in agricultural economics from Texas Tech University.

He is a director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, serving on the Wildlife Committee and the Natural Resource and Environment Committee. He is also a member of the National Cattleman's Beef Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife Trans-Pecos Task Force.

Helm and his wife reside on the EV Ranch with operations in Jeff Davis and Culberson counties. He has been actively involved in the ranching industry since 1977.

The El Paso Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington. D.C.
