Economic Ramifications
of Migration and Trade Focus of Dallas Fed Summit
DALLAS—The impact of
international migration and trade on a nation’s
economic development is the focus of an upcoming conference
at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
“Migration, Trade and Development”
will be Friday, Oct. 6, at the Dallas Fed, 2200 N. Pearl
St. Participants can register to attend at www.dallasfed.org.
Scholars and practitioners from
a range of disciplines will examine the individual and
joint relationships of migration and trade on growth
and development. Panels include the politics of reform,
the role of remittances and the historical perspective.
The conference is held in cooperation
with Southern Methodist University’s Tower Center
for Political Studies and Department of Economics, as
well as the Jno E. Owens Foundation.
Mark R. Rosenzweig of Yale University
will deliver the keynote address.
Speakers include Philip Martin,
University of California, Davis; Gary Freeman, University
of Texas at Austin; Wayne Cornelius, University of California,
San Diego; Jeffrey Williamson, Harvard University, and
Barry Chiswick, University of Illinois at Chicago.
