Blake Hastings Named
Head of Federal Reserve’s San Antonio Branch
DALLAS—San Antonio resident
Blake Hastings has been named vice president in charge
of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ San Antonio
Branch, the Bank announced today. He will assume his new
position in January.
Currently, Hastings is executive
director of Free Trade Alliance San Antonio, whose mission
is to develop and enhance the international trade-related
economic development of San Antonio and the region through
foreign investment, trade development and advocacy efforts.
“Blake is an outstanding
individual who will provide excellent leadership for
the Federal Reserve in San Antonio. His knowledge of
San Antonio and central and south Texas will be an asset
in directing the branch as it serves the financial and
economic needs of the area,” said Richard Fisher,
president and chief executive officer of the Dallas
Fed.
“The San Antonio Branch serves a large, economically
diverse region,” said Elizabeth Chu Richter, chairman
of the San Antonio Branch board of directors. “Blake
is very well-known among business and civic leaders
in San Antonio and interacts frequently with the communities
in the region and internationally on trade development
activities. He can deliver presentations to audiences
in several languages, reflecting the cultural diversity
of our region.”
Hastings joined the Alliance in 1995 and has served
as member services director, international trade specialist
and vice president. He was named executive director
in 2001.
Prior to the Alliance, he worked for an export management
company in New York, overseeing the export of food service
equipment to Northeast Asia.
Hastings began his career at the U.S. Trade and Development
Agency in Washington, D.C., developing export-oriented
projects for U.S. companies in the telecommunications,
power generation, satellite, port development, highway
construction and other infrastructure-related industries.
Hastings earned an M.B.A. in international business
and a B.A. in international economics from George Washington
University. He also studied at the University of International
Business & Economics in Beijing, China
The Dallas Fed—which has branches in San Antonio,
Houston and El Paso—serves the Eleventh Federal
Reserve District, which encompasses Texas, northern
Louisiana and southern New Mexico. The San Antonio Branch
territory includes much of central and south Texas and
the Gulf Coast Region.
