Romo Elected Chairman
Pro Tem of Dallas Fed’s San Antonio Branch Board
DALLAS—The board of directors
of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch
has elected Dr. Ricardo Romo of San Antonio as chairman
pro tem for 2007.
Romo has served as president of
the University of Texas at San Antonio since May 1999.
Previously, he was vice provost for undergraduate education
at UT-Austin. He also has held positions at Trinity
University, California State University at Northridge
and University of California at San Diego.
In 2002, President Bush appointed
Romo to the President’s Board of Advisers on Historically
Black Colleges and Universities.
Romo received a Ph.D. from the
University of California at Los Angeles, master of arts
from Loyola Marymount University and bachelor of science
from UT-Austin—all in history.
An urban historian, Romo is the
author of East Los Angeles: History of a Barrio and
taught history at UT-Austin.
The San Antonio Branch board consists
of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board
and three by the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors
in Washington, D.C.
