Romo Elected Chairman Pro Tem of Dallas Fed’s San Antonio Branch Board

DALLAS—The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch has elected Dr. Ricardo Romo of San Antonio as chairman pro tem for 2007.

Romo has served as president of the University of Texas at San Antonio since May 1999. Previously, he was vice provost for undergraduate education at UT-Austin. He also has held positions at Trinity University, California State University at Northridge and University of California at San Diego.

In 2002, President Bush appointed Romo to the President’s Board of Advisers on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Romo received a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles, master of arts from Loyola Marymount University and bachelor of science from UT-Austin—all in history.

An urban historian, Romo is the author of East Los Angeles: History of a Barrio and taught history at UT-Austin.

The San Antonio Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board and three by the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
