Dallas Fed conference to spotlight Texas-Mexico border banking

DALLAS—The important role of Texas border banks as providers of financial services to Mexican citizens and businesses is the focus of an upcoming Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas conference.

"Cross-Border Banking" will be May 11 at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel, 205 E. Houston St., San Antonio, Texas.

Speakers will discuss issues such as regulations, remittances, foreign investment, competition and impacts of exchange rates. The conference is aimed at financial firms, policymakers, scholars and anyone interested in factors impacting cross-border banking.

Harvey Rosenblum, Dallas Fed executive vice president and director of research, will present the keynote address.

Other speakers include Edward Skelton, Dallas Fed; Pascual O'Dogherty, Banco de México; Marian Micu, Barclays Global Investors; Manuel Sanchez, Laredo National Bank; and Yira Mascaró, The World Bank.
