Dallas Fed releases updated Building Wealth guide

For immediate release: May 7, 2007

DALLAS—Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President and CEO Richard W. Fisher today announced the release of updated versions of the bank’s most popular publication, Building Wealth: A Beginner’s Guide to Securing Your Financial Future.

The new versions include an animated, interactive CD-ROM—plus updated Internet and print editions.

The interactive CD-ROM and online guides include introductory video comments by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Fisher.

The CD-ROM and Internet versions also feature animated characters from Building Wealth that use simple terms to explain the building blocks of personal finance: budget to save, save and invest, and control debt.

Using built-in calculators and interactive worksheets, users can calculate their personal net worth and set wealth-building goals.

Many Texas schools, nonprofit community organizations, financial services providers and consumers use Building Wealth as a personal finance education resource.

Building Wealth’s updated content includes tips on avoiding identity theft and understanding credit reports, credit scores and insurance.

“Our society has become fond of getting its information in a digital and visual format,” Fisher said, “so we are proud to introduce our CD-ROM version of Building Wealth, which is the single most requested Dallas Fed publication. We believe this innovative presentation will broaden the appeal of this important financial literacy information to old and young consumers alike.”

Print editions and CD-ROMs can be ordered by calling 214-922-5254 or visiting www.dallasfed.org.
