Dallas Fed establishes Corporate Payments Council

For immediate release: January 17, 2012

DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas today announced the establishment of its Corporate Payments Council as part of an initiative to enhance communication with area businesses on payment-related topics.

The Council is composed of representatives from businesses throughout the region and will provide the Dallas Fed with information on a variety of types of payments, including business-to-business, consumer-to-business and emerging payments.

The Federal Reserve Banks play a major role in the nation’s payments system through the distribution of currency and coin, processing of checks and electronic transfer of funds.

“Conversations with this council will help us understand market dynamics and advances in payment processing,” said Richard W. Fisher, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. “This is valuable input we are receiving from businesses in our district.”
