Robert C. Robbins of Houston appointed to Dallas Fed's Houston Branch board

DALLAS—Robert C. Robbins, M.D. of Houston has been appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Houston Branch board of directors by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.  He will serve a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2017.

Robbins is president and CEO of Texas Medical Center in Houston.  He previously served as professor and chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.  He served as director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, Heart-Lung and Lung Transplantation Programs and Cardiothoracic Transplantation Laboratory.
As a board member, Robbins will provide input on regional economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy functions.

Robbins serves on the boards of the Texas Medical Center, Greater Houston Partnership, Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Houston Academy of Medicine Texas Medical Center Library, Houston Technology Center, Welch Foundation, Houston United Way and Health Connect.

Robbins earned a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College and a medical degree from the University of Mississippi.

The Houston Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
