Jesús Garza appointed to Dallas Fed's San Antonio Branch board

DALLASThe Federal Reserve Board of Governors has appointed Jesús Garza of Austin to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ San Antonio Branch board of directors. He will serve a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2018.

Garza is president and CEO of Seton Healthcare Family, a member of Ascension, the largest nonprofit and largest Catholic-based health provider in the nation.  Garza is also senior vice president of Ascension Health’s Texas Ministry, which encompasses Seton in the Austin Area and the Providence Healthcare Network in Waco.

Prior to joining Seton, Garza was deputy general manager for the Lower Colorado River Authority, following his eight years of service as city manager for the City of Austin. He began his government career in Austin in 1978, holding positions of increasing responsibility there. He also served as assistant city manager and deputy city manager in Corpus Christi and returned to Central Texas to become executive director of the Texas Water Commission.

Garza serves on the American Hospital Association Governing Council, Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs Advisory Council and the Catholic Foundation–Diocese of Austin Board of Directors. He previously served on the boards of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Headliners Club, American Heart Association–Austin, United Way of Greater Austin and Capital Idea.

Garza is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
