Texas Employment Update
September 25, 2012
The Texas economy continued to expand. Texas added 31,800 jobs in August. Year to date, the state has gained 186,600 jobs (Table 1).

The Dallas Fed improves the Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) payroll employment estimates for Texas by incorporating preliminary benchmarks into the data in a more timely manner and by using a two-step seasonal adjustment technique. Current Dallas Fed data are benchmarked through first quarter 2012. BLS data are benchmarked through second quarter 2011.
