U.S. History Through an Economic Lens
June 10–30, 2013 Spring Branch, San Antonio, Frisco, El Paso
This two-day workshop examines economic concepts integral to the 8th and 11th grade U.S. history courses.
Economics is more than a strand in the U.S. history course. It is integral to a complete understanding of the decisions that have shaped the United States. Examine the role of trade in the U.S. from mercantilism and tariffs to global trade and multinational corporations. Explore the concepts of money and banking, including the origins of the American monetary system and the debate on the role of a national bank in America.
This interactive workshop will give ample time to explore the economic concepts, share best practices with other participants, experience lesson demonstrations and relate the content to the TEKS for both U.S. history courses.
