Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff

As a senior vice president and chief of staff, Harvey Mitchell provides support and advice to the Bank’s senior management on Federal Reserve System issues, strategy development, as well as execution and collaboration across business areas of the Bank. He is assisted in this role by the staff of the Corporate Planning Department.
Since joining the Bank in 1986, Mitchell has served as secretary to both the Conference of Presidents (2009–12) and Conference of First Vice Presidents (2004–07), working with presidents and first vice presidents of all Reserve Banks on strategic issues. One of his earliest assignments was working on the Bank’s new building project from 1987–92.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
