Economic outlook for El Paso border region focus of conference

The future of the border economy in the El Paso region is the focus of an upcoming conference hosted by the El Paso Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the University of Texas at El Paso College of Business Administration.

“Border Economic Forum 2006” will be at the University of Texas at El Paso, 500 W. University Ave. Participants can register to attend at www.dallasfed.org.

Economists and scholars will discuss the regional economic outlook for El Paso, Ciudad Juárez and southern New Mexico, as well as the U.S. and Mexican economies.

In addition, a panel of prominent local business leaders will present their views of the regional economy.

Speakers will include Abraham Vela Dib and Agustín del Río Toffe of Banco de México; Miguel Fernández, founder, TransTelco; Col. Scott Marquardt of Fort Bliss, Texas; and Alan Viard of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
