Bryan student wins Dallas Fed Essay Contest

For Immediate Release: May 2, 2008

DALLAS—Charles Herrmann, a Bryan High School senior, is the winner of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ 18th Annual Essay Contest.

Herrmann was awarded a $1,000 savings bond.

His essay, “The Economics of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” was judged by Dallas Fed economists.

Participants in the Dallas Fed’s annual essay contest explore timely economic topics.  The contest is open to all 11th and 12th grade students in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District, composed of Texas, northern Louisiana and southern New Mexico.

The theme of this year’s contest was “Economics in Motion Pictures.” Students were required to analyze and describe the important economic principles demonstrated in a film of their choosing.
