Dallas Fed Trimmed Mean PCE 2.2 percent for January

DALLAS—The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate for January was 2.2 percent at an annualized rate, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

The overall Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation rate for January, released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, was an annualized 1.2 percent, while the inflation rate for PCE excluding food and energy was an annualized 3.2 percent.

The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in January was 1.9 percent. Over the same 12 months, the price index for overall PCE was 1.3 percent and the price index for PCE excluding food and energy was 1.7 percent.

The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate is an alternative measure of core inflation in the price index for PCE. It is calculated by the Dallas Fed, using data from the BEA.
