Anil Kumar is a senior research economist and advisor in the regional group of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Kumar joined the Dallas Fed in 2004. His research focuses primarily on estimation of behavioral effects of taxation, public and private pensions on labor supply and household saving. His articles have appeared or are forthcoming in the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Economics Letters, Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, among others. He has also authored several articles for the Dallas Fed's publications, Southwest Economy and Economic Letter. Before joining the Bank, Kumar worked in various positions in the civil service in India as a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He obtained a PhD in economics and MS in applied statistics from Syracuse University, New York, in 2004. He also has a BA in economics from University of Delhi and a management degree from University of Bombay, India.
