Richter and Bates elected leaders of Dallas Fed's San Antonio Branch board

DALLAS—The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch has elected Elizabeth Chu Richter as chairman for 2005. J. Dan Bates has been named chairman pro tem.

Richter was appointed to the San Antonio Branch board in 2003 by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. She served as chairman pro tem in 2004.

She is chairman and chief executive officer of Richter Architects, based in Corpus Christi. Richter also is creator and executive producer of “The Shape of Texas,” a statewide radio series on architecture.

Richter holds a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Bates was recently appointed to the San Antonio Branch board by the Board of Governors.

He is president and chief executive officer of the Southwest Research Institute. Bates serves as chairman of the board for Signature Science L.L.C.

Bates earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas State University and a graduate degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.

The San Antonio Branch board of directors consists of seven members, four appointed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
