Gabriel CasillasGabriel Casillas is a member of the Federal Reserve of Dallas Financial Sector Advisory Council.

Casillas is managing director and chief economist for Latin America at Barclays, based in New York. He previously was chief economist and head of investor relations and ESG at Banorte. Casillas also worked at J.P.Morgan and UBS as chief economist, as well as at the central bank of Mexico in various divisions.

Casillas is an op-ed columnist for El Financiero newspaper in Mexico and a member of the Business Cycle Dating Committee for the Mexican economy. He was recognized as “Most influential economist in Mexico 2023” by Forbes magazine.

In the academic arena, Casillas has taught several courses at ITAM, Monterrey Tech, Endicott College and Universidad Anáhuac, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His academic work has been published in the Journal of Policy Modeling.

He obtained his PhD from Texas A&M University, specializing in monetary theory, econometrics and information economics.
