Ayşegül Şahin

Ayşegül Şahin is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Academic Advisory Council.
Şahin is a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University and a research associate of the NBER Economic Fluctuations and Growth and Monetary Economics groups. Şahin has been serving as the lead editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics since January 2020. She is a member of the Panel of Economic Advisers of the Congressional Budget Office; the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Technical Advisory Committee; the Executive Committee of the CRIW; and the Advisory Boards of the San Francisco Fed and the Carnegie-Rochester-NYU conference.
Prior to joining Princeton University, Şahin was the Richard J. Gonzalez Regents Chair in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin and a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for 14 years, where she founded and led the team that focused on the analysis of the U.S. labor market. Şahin is an expert on macro-labor issues.
Şahin received bachelor’s and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, and an MA and a PhD in economics from the University of Rochester.
