Paul Quinn President Michael Sorrell elected to Dallas Fed board

For Immediate Release: January 16, 2019

DALLAS—Michael Sorrell has been elected to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors by its member banks. He will serve a three-year term ending on Dec. 31, 2021.

In his role as a board member, Sorrell will provide input on regional economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy functions.

Sorrell is the 34th president of Paul Quinn College in Dallas and is both Education Dive's and HBCU Digest's Higher Education President of the Year.

Sorrell serves as a trustee or director on Duke University's School of Law, Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, Dallas Advisory Board of Teach for America, Dallas Foundation and EarthX.

Sorrell received a BA from Oberlin College, JD and MA from Duke University and EdD from the University of Pennsylvania.

Each Federal Reserve Bank has a nine-member board of directors. Three members represent commercial banks, three represent the public and three are appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
