Victor R. Pierson of Galveston elected to Dallas Fed board
DALLAS—Victor R. Pierson of Galveston, Texas, has been elected to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors by its member banks. He will serve a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
In his role as a Dallas Fed board member, he will provide input on regional economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy functions.
Pierson is chairman, president and CEO of Galveston-based Moody National Bank, one of the oldest and largest privately owned Texas-based banks.
He joined Moody Bank in 1985 as executive vice president and chief credit officer, and was appointed to his current position in 2002.
He also served as credit manager at First Wichita National Bank in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Pierson is chairman of TIB - The Independent BankersBank, N.A., and past chairman of the Texas Bankers Association.
He is chairman of the Galveston Wharves at Port of Galveston and trustee of the Southern Methodist University SW Graduate School of Banking Foundation.
He serves on the Texas A&M University Mays Business School Commercial Banking Program advisory board, Texas Tech University Rawls Business School Commercial Banking Program board and Texas A&M University at Galveston Board of Visitors executive advisory board.
Pierson served as mayor of Jamaica Beach, Texas, from1999 to 2013. He was appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Gulf of Mexico Commission by President George W. Bush and appointed to the Coastal Coordination Council by Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
He is a graduate of Midwestern State University, where he earned a BBA in economics and an MBA in finance.
Each Federal Reserve Bank has a nine-member board of directors. Three members represent commercial banks, three represent the public and three are appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
