Ellen E. Meade Ellen E. Meade is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Academic Advisory Council.

Meade is a research professor of economics at Duke University. She is an expert in monetary policy, central banks and institutional governance, and policy communications.

Prior to joining Duke, Meade spent 25 years at the Federal Reserve Board and 12 years in academia. She served as a special advisor to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and Vice Chair Richard Clarida and as senior advisor in the Division of Monetary Affairs.

During her time at the Fed, Meade played a key role in the development of the Federal Reserve’s new framework for monetary policy and the Fed Listens initiative in 2019 and 2020. She spent six years as an associate professor at American University and has been a guest scholar at The Brookings Institution, a senior research fellow at London School of Economics and a senior economist for the Council of Economic Advisors.

Meade holds a PhD and an MA in economics from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
