Margie Salazar

Margie Salazar is the president and CEO of FirstLight Federal Credit Union. She joined FirstLight 28 years ago, starting her career as a part-time teller while attending college.

Salazar became FirstLight’s first female president and CEO—and one of the first Latinas to lead a billion-dollar credit union—in 2023. She has been active in the industry for many years, including serving on the board of the El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions and as a member of National Latino Credit Union Professionals.

She is currently chair emeritus of the YMCA of El Paso board and serves on the board of Inclusiv, an organization dedicated to helping low- and moderate-income communities achieve financial independence. She is also a member of the University of Texas at El Paso Hunt College of Business Leadership Advisory Council, the UT El Paso Banking Academy Advisory Council, Community en Accion, the Executive Women’s Forum and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s patient-centric committee.

Salazar holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from UT El Paso.
