Jason D. SmithJason D. Smith is the president and chief executive officer of Bonvenu Bancshares Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bonvenu Bank N.A. He also serves on the board of directors for both companies.

Smith began his banking career in 1990 at the former Red River Valley Bank in Bossier City. Smith joined Citizens National Bank (now Bonvenu Bank) in 1994 as assistant vice president and served in various areas of increasing responsibility until being named president and chief executive officer in April 2016.

Smith has also served in various capacities with the Louisiana Bankers Association, including president of the Bankers Education Council, Government Relations Committee member, and currently vice chairman of the board. Smith also has been published in the American Bankers Association Journal.

From 2006 to 2015, Smith was an active member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, serving as chairman in 2013. He also served on the founding board of directors of the Shreveport Bossier Business Alliance for Higher Education and as a trustee of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

Smith is a member of the Shreveport-Bossier City Committee of 100 and Leaders for a Better Louisiana. He also serves on the Student Investment Fund advisory board for Louisiana Tech’s College of Business and served as the business school’s inaugural advisory board Chairman. In 2023, he joined the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Board, serving as vice chair for economic development in 2024 and currently as vice chair for membership.

Smith received his BS in Finance and MBA from Louisiana Tech University. He is also a graduate of the ABA School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Smith achieved the designation of Certified Public Accountant in 1999 and currently maintains the designation of CPA (inactive) from the Louisiana State Board of CPAs. He was designated a Certified Community Bank Director by the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in 2018.
