Frequently asked questions

Dallas Fed staff generally do not speak publicly between a week prior to the Saturday preceding a Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting and the Thursday following that meeting. This time is referred to as the FOMC blackout period.

Our speakers can speak to non-profit professional, business and civic groups, both virtual and in person. Examples include academic institutions, civic or trade associations, such as Chamber of Commerce.

Dallas Fed employees are prohibited from speaking to for-profit entities, political organizations, at political gatherings or at fundraising events. Fulfillment of requests is based on speaker availability, the forum, subject matter and at least 75 people in attendance.

Please submit requests at least 60 days but no more six months before your event to allow sufficient time for preparation.

There is no charge. Dallas Fed employees volunteer their time to engage with communities within the Eleventh District which includes Texas, northern Louisiana and southern New Mexico. Speeches can be provided in person or virtually.

Our ambassador program connects Dallas Fed employees with student audiences. Ambassador-led tours of our district exhibits provide a memorable on-site experience for student groups.

Additionally, our virtual Fed 101 program provides an overview of the Federal Reserve in a remote setting.

Financial education and college- and career-readiness training are currently available for student-group leaders through our speaker request form.
