ACTIVATE, an Early Career Experience Cohort
ACTIVATE curriculum
ACTIVATE is a robust experience that requires ongoing engagement that includes participation in two scheduled sessions each month and light prework.
Months 1-3: Bank history
The first three months of ACTIVATE involves interactive orientation sessions with Bank leaders, followed by relationship-building networking activities. Topics include Bank culture, guidance for leading and collaborating on Bank initiatives, and an overview of central banking. A Bank leader conducts an overview of monetary policy within the first six months. Other sessions focus on thinking like an owner and delivering effective presentations.
Months 4-6: Career development planning
The next three months includes a second networking event and a focus on career development planning to help participants identify and explore long-term career aspirations, strengths and development opportunities.
Months 7-9: Learning about other roles
The second half of ACTIVATE includes opportunities for participants to share and present an overview of their role at the Dallas Fed with their ACTIVATE cohort. Sessions also cover the significance of demonstrating emotional intelligence, resilience and empathy and an overview of Banking Supervision. A group research project and a team-building event concludes month nine.
Months 10-12: Communication and Outreach
In the final months of ACTIVATE, participants take a Communications and Outreach 101 course, followed by sessions on managing up and collaboration and a case study on diversity and inclusion. A networking lunch with the Bank president and first vice president is a highlight during this time. In addition, a Let’s Help volunteer opportunity, continuous-learning planning and an ACTIVATE completion celebration takes place.
Additional ACTIVATE information
A new ACTIVATE cohort begins every six months. Newly hired employees at the professional level with two years or less of career experience can discuss this opportunity with their manager.
