Finding Shelter: Affordability Squeeze in a Tight Texas Housing Market
Texas home price increases have outpaced the U.S. rate since the Great Recession. Although price appreciation moderated somewhat in 2017, affordability continues to slip, diminishing the state’s lower cost-of-living advantage. Is it still possible to build or purchase a Texas house for under $250,000? What impact do these record-high prices have on the single-family housing market?
At this one-day conference, industry experts explored whether market fundamentals support unprecedented home price increases. They also discussed current trends and the outlook for the U.S. and Texas residential real estate markets.
