About Steven B. Kamin

Steven B. Kamin

Steven B. Kamin is a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where his research focuses on international macroeconomics and finance.

Previously, Kamin served as Director of the Division of International Finance at the Federal Reserve Board, where he led the staff’s global economic forecasting, advised the Fed’s chair and other board members on international policy, and represented the United States in forums such as the G7, G20 and the BIS Committee on the Global Financial System. Over his more than three decades at the Fed, he also held positions including Deputy Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director and Chief of the International Development Section.

Earlier in his career, Kamin was a visiting economist at the Bank for International Settlements, a senior economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, a consultant for the World Bank and taught at the University of Maryland.

His scholarly work has been published in numerous journals including International Finance, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Policy Modeling and Review of International Economics.

Kamin earned his BA in economics and history from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
