Dallas Fed Power Survey FAQs
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is launching a semi-annual pilot survey designed to examine trends within the power sector across the Eleventh Federal Reserve District—Texas, southern New Mexico and northern Louisiana. To help participants and stakeholders understand the survey’s scope and content, a set of frequently asked questions is provided below. Additional details—including further FAQs and a sample survey form—can be found in the survey flyer.
To register as a participant, please use the registration link. For general inquiries about the survey, contact Kunal Patel at kunal.patel@dal.frb.org or call 214-922-6378. The first survey period will be in early 2027.
Survey responses are used by the Dallas Fed to gain insights into current trends, challenges and developments within the power sector in the region. Your input helps our economists track economic dynamics of the power industry and inform our president’s views on monetary policy.
We invite all utilities, power generators, transmission and distribution service providers, battery energy storage system operators, and municipal and cooperative electric companies which generate, store, transmit or distribute power in Texas, northern Louisiana and southern New Mexico to participate in the survey.
We will review responses submitted, and we plan to publish aggregated results on dallasfed.org. All published results will be anonymized and presented in aggregate. Panelists’ names, company affiliations and individual responses will not be disclosed. Survey comments may be anonymously published with your consent. We may initially collect responses without publishing them in order to statistically validate the results.
You must enroll to participate in the survey, which allows us to protect the integrity of our survey results. You will receive a secure link to the electronic survey form via email twice a year. The survey is multiple choice and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Please respond based on power-related activity within the Eleventh District (Texas, southern New Mexico and northern Louisiana). If it is not possible to provide information specific to this region, please describe your firm’s power-related activity in the United States.
