About Peter R. Orszag
Orszag joined Lazard as vice chairman and managing director of investment banking in May 2016. He also serves as global co-head of health care.
Orszag was previously vice chairman of corporate and investment banking and chairman of the Financial Strategy and Solutions Group at Citigroup. He served as director of the Office of Management and Budget in President Barack Obama's cabinet in 2009–10 and as director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
Before leading the CBO, Orszag was director of The Hamilton Project and the Retirement Security Project at the Brookings Institution, where he was a senior fellow in economic studies. He also served in the Clinton administration on both the Council of Economic Advisers staff and the National Economic Council.
Orszag serves on the board of directors of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, among others. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
Orszag earned a BA in economics from Princeton University and a PhD in economics from the London School of Economics.
About Robert C. Robbins
Dr. Robbins is an internationally recognized cardiac surgeon who has focused his clinical efforts on acquired cardiac diseases, with a special expertise in the surgical treatment of congestive heart failure.
Robbins previously served as professor and chairman of the department of cardiothoracic surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine, founding director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, president of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, president of the Western Thoracic Surgical Association and president of the American Heart Association Western States Affiliate, among other roles.
Robbins serves on boards for a number of other organizations, including the Welch Foundation, Houston United Way and Health Connect. He was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Houston Branch board in 2015 and to a blue-ribbon panel to evaluate the Veterans Affairs health system in 2015. The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston honored him as the 2016 International Citizen of the Year at the Jesse H. Jones Award Gala.
Robbins is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and a former guest editor of the Circulation surgical supplement.
Robbins earned a BS in chemistry from Millsaps College and his MD from the University of Mississippi and completed his general surgical training at the University of Mississippi, cardiothoracic training at Stanford, postdoctoral research at Columbia University and the National Institutes of Health, and congenital heart surgical fellowships at Emory University and Royal Children’s Hospital.
