U.S.–Mexico Manufacturing: Back in the Race

North America’s manufacturing competitiveness has been boosted in recent years by productivity gains, rising wages in Asia and falling energy costs, factors that have kept U.S. and Mexico in the manufacturing race. Despite expectations a decade ago that China’s industrial prowess was expected to rule global manufacturing, China’s labor costs increased tremendously and made it less competitive.
