Texas consumer price index weighted by population
While the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not publish a state-level consumer price index (CPI), it does produce metro-level consumer price indexes for Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston. To approximate a state-level CPI we take a weighted average of both metropolitan areas using their populations.
Metro-level population data is published annually by the BLS. To use it for this monthly series, we disaggregate the annual data into monthly using a linear interpolation for the months in between the annual values. For years that are not published yet (as the prior year is published in September of the following year), we estimate the population to grow at the average growth rate for the last 10 years.

This CPI can be used to deflate nominal values to real values.
