About the Center for Energy and the Economy

The Center for Energy and the Economy (CEE) produces academic research that expands and deepens our collective understanding of how developments in energy markets inform monetary policy. The Center, established in August 2025, serves as a platform to facilitate the dissemination of energy sector expertise throughout the Federal Reserve System and to the public.

It focuses on better understanding energy markets and their relationship with the broader economy. It is open to research in adjacent fields such as commodity finance, regional energy markets, trade, labor and global geopolitics that are relevant to energy markets. In addition, CEE provides a forum for more applied analysis related to the energy transition that is accessible to an audience that extends beyond the Federal Reserve System.

CEE’s home is the energy group in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The Center’s activities extend to other researchers and analysts at the Dallas Fed and to researchers with related interests across the Federal Reserve System.
